The government of South Sudan uses Twitpic to chronicle the activities of President Salva Kiir Mayardit who is generally pictured wearing his black cowboy hat. The government tweets on average more than three times a day. The tweets are informative and provide followers updates about current events in South Sudan including the donation of 36 heads of cattle from Pari community of Lafon County “in support of national army's mobilization campaign” to the latest in the ongoing border dispute with Sudan. The Twitter stream chronicles the nation building of this young country from becoming member of the World Bank to joining FIFA. The Twitter account is also used to report on what other ministers, chief negotiator and other political figures are doing. The government unilaterally follows a number of governments and political leaders who haven’t reciprocated yet.
