When the Czech government joined Twitter on 9 July 2010 it was surprised to have 219 followers within the first three hours. Growth of the account has slowed over the past two years as the government only tweets official news about Prime Minister Petr Nečas. The administration does occasionally reply to questions from its followers; however Petr Nečas does not tweet himself. The administration sometimes uses Twitpic to illustrate meetings of the Prime Minister, including a picture crossing the state border to Germany on the Autobahn when he took the car instead of the plane for a working visit in August 2010. The most popular tweet of the government is the announcement that “The government suspends ratification of ACTA”.
