Slovenia
The government of Slovenia clearly wants to engage with its citizens on Twitter: “Is 140 characters enough? Else, write to vlada@gov.si or call 080 2002” it states in its profile.

On 16 June 2011 Janez Janša explained “You can follow my responses to important events at home and abroad”. Over half the tweets sent by the Slovenian Prime Minister are actually retweets mainly from his own party the SDS, and Žiga Turk, now his minister of education. Before becoming Prime Minister Janša tweeted personal observations and news reports and sometimes engaged in party politics. Since taking office his style has become a bit more official. On 22 January 2012, shortly before becoming Prime Minister, he congratulated the Croatian government on Twitter @VladaRH for the successful referendum on EU accession: "Congratulations to the historic decision of Croatia to the EU.”, he tweeted.

The Twitter account of the Slovenian government was set up under former Prime Minister Borut Pahor. The account was quite conversational under his administration, frequently answering question from followers. Since the new government of Janez Janša has been in charge of the account the tweets have become more formal and less conversational. The account has sent only one @reply to a journalist who had spotted a spelling mistake in the Twitter feed. The account merely broadcasts official government news about Prime Minister Janša. Its most popular tweet is a link to “A study on the introduction of open source workstations in public administration”.
