“A communication and interaction channel with the people”, states the slogan on the background of the Twitter account of the Secretariat of Communication of the Presidency of Uruguay. The account informs followers about the political agenda of Uruguay as well as activities of different ministers. The first tweet was sent in October 2011. The account is used intensively, with more than 12 tweets per day. Almost every tweet contains a link to the presidential website or the latest YouTube video. With less than 5,000 followers the account has among the fewest followers of all official political accounts in South America.
