The European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN) is the third most effective international organisation on Twitter, since its tweets are retweeted on average 121 times. CERN opened its English Twitter account on 25 June 2008 and also tweets in French @CERN_FR since September 2009. The media team has a specific account for the @CERNPressOffice and the recruitment team created a Twitter account for job openings @CERN_JOBS and provides advice, hints and tips for interviews. CERN also maintains 15 other specific Twitter accounts for each of their experiments such as @CMSexperiment, @ATLASexperiment and @LHCbExperiment and often retweets and @mentions them. @CERN consistently posts tweets with pictures including a weekly #ThrowBackThursday. Its most popular tweet, posted on 4 July 2012 is about the discovery of the Higgs boson in the large hadron collider.
